There will be two new attractions at Peterborough Bird Club's annual Bird Fest in Ferry Meadows this Sunday, 11th September. Carol Maltby, a volunteer at the Fineshade Red Kite Release Scheme, will give illustrated talks on "Red Kites" at the Visitor Centre in Ferry Meadows at 11.00 am and 1.30 pm. David Cromack, editor of "Bird Watching" magazine, will give an illustrated talk on "Bird Watching for Beginners" at 12.00 pm and 2.30 pm. Admission to both talks is free.

There will be many other attractions, including a stand by Swarovski to display their latest digiscoping equipment and binoculars, live owls, hawks and falcons from the Raptor Foundation and a stand by the RSPB to show their work. Young's Camera will display a range of their optical equipment for sale. Nicholas Watts, a local organic farmer, will have a variety of wild bird foods for sale. In the morning, there will be a display of bird ringing at the bird reserve. The club will have a stand selling bird boxes, tombola, and stalls for books, cakes and plants. There will be a special stand for young children to make feeding balls for birds.

So, there will be something for every one at the Bird Fest this Sunday from 10.00 am till 4.00 pm near the Visitor Centre in Ferry Meadows. Come and make this year's Bird Fest a bigger success than last year's.
