Bird Racer seeks sponsors

London birdwatcher Jamie Wyver will be racing to see as many different types of bird as possible in the capital. The sponsored birdwatch, which will take place in early March, is raising money for the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust's London Wetland Centre. The centre, in Barnes, is an important site for birds: over 180 bird species annually are recorded in the 100 acres of wetland habitats.

Jamie, who describes himself as a keen amateur when it comes to spotting birds, volunteers and works part-time at the centre. He hopes to prove that central London is a great place to birdwatch, and aims to use public transport only to move from one birding site to another.

Jamie said "This is a fun way to help a very special place for birds, other wildlife and people. Please sponsor me and help keep our city one of the best urban places to watch birds, as well as supporting wetland conservation everywhere."

All donations will go to the WWT London Wetland Centre. You can sponsor Jamie and keep up to date with his progress on his website http://www.sponsoredbirdwatch.org
