Public consultation on Pagham Harbour Visitor Centre proposals
Public consultation on Pagham Harbour Visitor Centre proposals - Have your say
A feasibility study into where to build a new visitor centre to serve the popular birdwatching destination at Pagham Harbour, and what functions and facilities that centre should contain, goes to public consultation today (Mon 4 Aug).
The study is being carried out by West Sussex County Council, the Environment Agency and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)
Key recommendations from the study are that the abandoned Sidlesham Ferry landfill site should be turned into wildlife habitat and opened to the public, and a new visitor centre built there overlooking Pagham Harbour. But hearing the views of everyone with an interest in the Harbour is the vital next stage.
The consultation runs until Monday October 27. All responses will be used to inform the final study recommendations.
,br>The study has taken 18 months so far, and has involved workshops with local groups and councillors, including representation from the Sussex Ornithological Society, and a major investigation that concluded that it would be possible to restore and use the former landfill site.
