Neath Port Talbot Biodiversity Action has a vacancy for a Farmland Bird Officer 20 hours per week on ?18,582 pro rata (?9.63 per hour) 12 month fixed term contract, based in Neath.
The appointee would be responsible for carrying out bird surveys on designated farmsteads across the county of Neath Port Talbot and be expected to liaise with and write reports, both for the local landowners and the Neath Port Talbot Biodiversity Forum. From those findings, they will be expected to make recommendations on enhancements that may be made to the farms to improve them for particular bird species. The appointee will be supported by a small management group and volunteer ornithologists. The successful applicant must have good bird identification skills, experience of conducting surveys over varied terrain, access to transport and the ability to work on their own initiative, as well as to a management team. They should have good communication skills, both verbal and written . Computer literacy would be an advantage but not essential.
