BirdLife International World Bird Festival
Monica Rivas - World Bird Festival 2001 Focal Person announces that during the third week of the Festival successful events were held in South Africa, Mexico, Vietnam, Paraguay and the Falkland Islands helping to take the running total over the one thousand mark.

Environmental Affairs & Tourism, Mohammed Valli Moosa, launched BirdLife International\'s new publication \"Important Bird Areas
in Africa\" at an international seminar in Johannesburg. Hundreds of people from across Africa attended the launch where highlights
included a spectacular music and dance performance by the girls of the Bethany School in Soweto and a celebratory \"Braii\" or
