European Plover Count

Golden Plover Count October 2003 Autumn sees hundreds of thousands of Golden Plovers migrating south from their breeding grounds in Iceland, Scandinavia, Russia and the British uplands. But how many are there and where do they all go? This coming weekend (11-12 October 2003) sees a coordinated count of Golden Plovers from Denmark south to the Netherlands and UK. The main count weekend is the best time to count plovers, but if you see any plovers in the UK during the period 8th to 15th October please send details to the British Trust for Ornithology. Please note the following details: date, location (with grid reference), county, number of birds, and email your plover sightings to winter.plovers@bto.org
