Robert Burton is a natural history writer and Antarctic tour lecturer. He first visited South Georgia in 1964 and later studied albatrosses at the British Antarctic Survey research station at Bird Island.
John Croxall studied seabirds and seals at South Georgia for the British Antarctic Survey for three decades, retiring in 2006. He is a fellow of the Royal Society and a trustee of the South Georgia Heritage Trust.

Seems to me that this would be a terrific bird to have along with you on a visit to the islands and, even although I am no devotee of photo-guides it is pretty good from an ID perspective… in fact I’ve rarely seen better guides relying on photos. I doubt it has the depth any specialist birder, botanist or whatever would want, but that doesn’t seem to be the intention and it has the distinct advantage of being able to stand alone on the back of some excellent photographic work. The brief ID text seems more than adequate. Almost anyone cruising into this part of the world will be interested in all the wildlife not just birds or mammals and will want to know more about the area he or she is visiting and he or she will find this small volume packed with information on the whole of the local environment.
