Fatbirder View: I’ve never made the annual twitcher’s pilgrimage to these famed isles; just not my thing. However, I do recognise its unique position in their hearts and its unique geographical locale which is often the first port of call for fauna swept across the Atlantic by storm winds.

But the mild climate makes for its own flora and fauna and these reports certainly highlight that and it’s not all about birds but other taxa are reported on in excellent cameo articles.

So whether you are a regular or one-time visitor, resident or just an interested naturalist this is one you will certainly enjoy. Its packed with information and well produced thanks to the BTO.
