Harrier Jacket From Country Innovation – regular price £100, currently on offer at £50 http://www.countryinnovation.com

The Harrier Jacket is a windproof and waterproof fleece jacket offering comfort, protection and extreme versatility.

For many the comfort of fleece cannot be beaten, but the drawback is that on it’s own it is neither wind nor waterproof. It was originally developed as the insulation layer beneath an outer protective layer. With the Harrier Jacket we have managed to cleverly combine the fleece outer with a lining that has a membrane bonded onto it to give it wind and waterproofness, whilst still being breathable. Once you’ve got it on you really won’t want to take it off. It’s really warm and cosy and being made of fleece it is extremely non-rustle. So say the makers Country Innovation.

The jacket features 2 lowered zippered pockets, a vertical security pocket, an inner placket [to minimise wind/water penetration through the main zip], elasticated cuffs, and bottom hem drawcord – with sizes from small through to XXL I can endorse that is a generous fit!

As spring slowly creeps up upon us this is the ideal wear for birding whilst we still risk frosts and certainly will encounter showers. It will keep you warm, keep out the rain, and yet not weigh you down. Moreover, you will not be scattering all before you as it is virtually rustle free. For the next few months it will do the job nicely until you can chance shirt-sleeves and waistcoat, and when summer’s over it will be perfect for the mists and mellow fruitfulness season.
