Fatbirder View: A quick review to slot it into this weeks published reviews… I am sure every birder who visited the Scillies in 2017 and anyone planning a trip will want this book. It covers all the species seen on the islands in 2017 and has some pieces written by the finders of some of the more notable birds that year. There is full coverage of mammals and reptiles and whole plethora of other fauna too. Throughout it is illustrated with splendid paintings, photos and line drawings and has a great many charts so you will be able to tell exactly what was seen when. So not only is it a public record its also a great guide to when you might get lucky in future years.I’ve never been sufficiently dedicated to twitching to make the pilgrimage but quite understand how many do. I’m sure anyone even thinking about trying it out for themselves, on reading through this review will make that possibility a definite plan!Fatbirder
